AMMAN —
Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) on Sunday cancelled the license to
trade the cosmetic product Feique Lemon Cream because it contains mercury in a
percentage that exceeds the safe limits, according to Al-Mamlaka TV.
Director-General
of the Jordan Food and Drug Administration, Nizar Mhaidat said that the
administration, in cooperation with the pertinent authorities, including the
National Society of Consumer Protection, the traders syndicate and the Jordan
pharmacists syndicate, started withdrawing all this make products from the
local market.
Mhaidat said that
the measure is a continuation of JFDA effort to track cosmetics traded in the
local market to detect the presence of mercury in skin-lightening creams to
ensure that no harm is caused to users.
JFDA called for contacting
the administration for any inquiry or complaint regarding such products through
the toll-free complaint line 117114 and the e-mail to info@jfda.jo and via
WhatsApp on the number 0795632000.
