Occupied Jerusalem- Dozens of Jewish settlers stormed Al Aqsa Mosque/ Harm Al Sharif in occupied Jerusalem Sunday under heavy police escort.

Some 403 settlers descended on the compound's plaza in the morning hours, danced and prayed in a provocation against guards, as the occupation police barred the entry of Palestinians to the mosque in the walled Old City of Jerusalem, said the Jerusalem Waqf (endowments) Department, the custodian of the compound.
The breach came on the fourth day of the Jewish festival of Hanukkah amid calls by hardline Jewish groups to intensify incursions into Al Aqsa, Islam's third holiest shrine, during the eight-day holidays.
Since the start of the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank in October 2023, the occupation forces have tightened security at the gates of the Haram Al Sharif and entrances to the Old City, where more than 68,000 Jewish settlers made it to the compound.
The occupation authorities take Jewish holidays to crackdown on Palestinians in measures coinciding with blockades and tight military practices that restrict access to holy places.
