AMMAN —
A new classification issued by
Gulf Research Center of the Arab countries most
at risk of having freshwater sources depleted put Jordan in third place,
according to Khaberni.

Palestine topped
the list, Qatar ranked second, and Lebanon ranked fourth, while the Sultanate
of Oman is among the Arab countries facing the least danger of seeing its fresh
water depleted.
Freshwater on the
entire globe reaches only 3 percent, a small percentage overall and even more
so in the region. Despite their vital importance to life, freshwater sources
are threatened by a multitude of hazards, including overdevelopment, pollution,
and global warming.
