An impressive surge in 2022
The Kingdom’s trade with ASEAN countries experienced an impressive surge in 2022 by 42 percent, compared to 2021, reaching JD1.279 billion. In an effort to enhance cooperation, an online meeting is planned to facilitate the signing of memoranda of understanding between Jordan and ASEAN. The regional grouping aims to promote economic and security cooperation among its ten members, the Jordan News Agency, Petra reported.

During a meeting between the ACC board members and Ambassador Rahman, Chairman Khalil Haj Tawfiq expressed the commercial sector's keen interest in strengthening relations with ASEAN member states. Tawfiq emphasized the importance of expanding economic cooperation with Malaysia through trade delegations and exhibitions.

Tawfiq encouraged Malaysian entrepreneurs and investors to explore investment opportunities in various sectors in Jordan, emphasizing the Kingdom's attractive incentives for foreign investors. He also highlighted the need to reinstate an airline service connecting Amman and Kuala Lumpur to facilitate tourism and business activities between the two nations.

Ambassador Rahman acknowledged Jordan's significance as a commercial and economic partner for Malaysia in the region. He noted the progress in bilateral relations since their establishment in 1965 and invited the ACC to participate in the upcoming "Halal" industry exhibition in Kuala Lumpur.

Highlighting the advanced level of Jordan's education system, Rahman praised the presence of 1,500 Malaysian students in Jordanian universities. He emphasized the potential to expand the range of traded products between the two nations, particularly focusing on agricultural commodities, food industries, and medicine, given the excellent reputation of the Jordanian pharmaceutical industry.
