The sighting of the Shawwal crescent on Tuesday, marking the end of Ramadan, prompted this decision.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Hasanat, the Grand Mufti of the Kingdom, had urged for the sighting of the crescent on Tuesday. Joining Jordan, several other countries including Malaysia, Australia, Indonesia, Singapore, and the Philippines have also declared Wednesday, April 10, 2024, as the beginning of Eid al-Fitr following the confirmation of the Shawwal crescent sighting.
