This initiative is part of the broader "Water and
Energy" project, which is funded by the European Union and promotes
cross-border cooperation among
Mediterranean countries. The Chamber has
partnered with Greece, Egypt, Lebanon, Spain, and Italy for this project, the
Jordan News Agency, Petra reported.
During the inauguration ceremony, JCC announced that The
Aqaba Chamber of Commerce building has been selected as the host for a project
that generates cooling energy. By leveraging chillers to cool water and
subsequently decrease the temperature of the air, this project aims to reduce
reliance on electrical energy sources, and lower overall costs.
In collaboration with partners, the Chamber has conducted a
local market survey and initiated a training program to assess resource
efficiency services and equip trainers in the sustainable energy sector. The
Chamber emphasizes the global trend of renewable energy and the importance of
economic stimulation and cost reduction to benefit citizens.
Several agreements have been signed to implement and oversee
the installation of a solar energy cooling system, in partnership with the
Royal Scientific Society through the
National Center for Energy Research.
