The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates strongly condemned the raid by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir on Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Qudsi Al-Sharif today, under the protection of Israeli occupation forces. The ministry described the action as a serious escalation, an unacceptable provocation, and a violation of the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque, as well as the historical and legal status in place.

The official spokesperson for the ministry, Ambassador Dr. Sufian Qudah, reaffirmed the Kingdom's absolute rejection and strong condemnation of the raid by the extremist Israeli minister, which is a blatant breach of international law and Israel's obligations as the occupying power in occupied Jerusalem. The raid also constitutes an attempt to impose temporal and spatial division at the mosque. He stressed that Israel has no sovereignty over the occupied city of Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian sanctities.
Ambassador Qudah noted that the Israeli government continues its illegal escalation policy through its ongoing violations of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, as well as its dangerous escalation in the West Bank and its continuous aggression against the Gaza Strip. Additionally, Israel is blocking the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza amidst the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe, warning of the grave consequences of further destabilization in the region.
The ambassador called on the international community to take a firm stance that obligates Israel, as the occupying power, to cease its continuous violations of Islamic and Christian sanctities in Jerusalem and respect their sanctity.
Ambassador Qudah reiterated that Al-Aqsa Mosque, with its total area of 144 dunams, is a place of exclusive worship for Muslims, and that the Jerusalem Waqf and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs Department, under the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs, and Holy Sites, is the legal authority with exclusive jurisdiction over the administration of Al-Haram Al-Qudsi Al-Sharif and regulating access to it.
