The remarks were made at a meeting with the Amman Chamber of
Commerce (ACC) chairman and heads of trade unions involved with imports. During
the meeting Qudah said that Jordan Customs will set up a coordination council
to address regulation issues with the ACC.
The department is "keen to remove any obstacles facing
the flow of goods to the local market and provide a safe stock of commodities,
especially after the rise in freight charges," the director added.
The proposed coordination council would be tasked with addressing common
concerns within the laws and regulations in force and establishing a new
partnership, Qudah said, noting that the new body is scheduled to hold its first
meeting at the beginning of next month.
Earlier this year, Qudah also said that the department will
launch an information center to provide the details on importing goods and
commodities, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
