AMMAN — The
Jordan Dental Association recently began measures to shut down 300 clinics run by illegal
practitioners who do not hold certificates authorizing them to work as dentists,
submitting its first list of violators to the Public Prosecution Office on
Tuesday.

The head of the association, Dr Azem Al-Qaddoumi,
said in an interview with Hala News on Monday that “the impartial and fair
Jordanian judiciary has the final say in the allegations”, and that it is
responsible for holding accountable all those illegally practicing as dentists.
The association began to take action in the
case after receiving reports and complaints about individuals practicing dentistry
and opening clinics in the Kingdom without proper licenses, Qaddoumi said.
According to the procedures contained
within the
Dental Association Law, dentists must not publish any advertisements
bearing phone numbers, links to websites or to appointment booking systems, or
any marketing or promotional material, whether on private pages or official websites,
without obtaining prior approval from the Jordan Dental Association.
The association’s seal of approval must
also be included on all advertisements, he added.
Without these measures in place, the
association is forced to take legal measures, including suspending individuals
from practicing dentistry or closing their clinics.
