AMMAN — The Jordan-EU Association Council
will discuss regional and international political issues and ways to bolster
bilateral ties at its 14th meeting which will open in the Dead Sea on Thursday,
according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The meeting, which will be held for the first time
in an EU’s Southern Neighborhood country, will be co-chaired by deputy prime
minister and minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Al-Safadi, and
EU high representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and
vice-president of the European Commission, Josep Borrell.
European Commissioner for Neighborhood and
Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi will also be present, along with several EU foreign
ministers and Jordanian officials, Petra said.
A foreign ministry statement Monday said the event
will mark a further milestone in the 20-year-old partnership between Jordan and
the EU.
The plenary session will discuss implementing the EU-Jordan Association
Agreement and the new 2021-2027 EU-Jordan Partnership Priorities, which the
council is expected to adopt, the statement added.
Talks during the meeting will also include a political
dialogue on regional and international issues.
