Ajloun – A specialized training course titled "Training of Trainers (ToT) in the Field of Environment and Climate Change" was inaugurated Monday at the Hattin Co-Ed Basic School in Ajloun Governorate.

Organized by the Jordan Environment Society in collaboration with the French Embassy and the Ministry of Education, the course aims to enhance environmental awareness and empower educators in the region. The two-day course is attended by teachers from Ajloun schools who serve as coordinators for environmental protection clubs, further empowering them to lead and inspire change within their communities.
Omar Momani, head of the Ajloun Governorate Council, who officiated the opening, emphasized the critical importance of fostering environmental awareness within the local community. He underscored the necessity of regularly conducting such training sessions to address various environmental issues.
Momani also highlighted the importance of developing environmentally friendly projects that contribute to sustainable development, commending the Jordanian Environment Society for its efforts in promoting environmental consciousness and knowledge transfer.
Ali Freihat, Chairperson of the Society's Board of Directors, elaborated on the association's mission to engage positively with the community, underscoring the importance of training and empowering teachers to strengthen their capabilities in environmental education and climate change awareness.
Freihat highlighted the role of students in this mission, encouraging them to participate in voluntary initiatives that promote environmental preservation and sustainability.
Freihat also noted the Society's commitment to involving school-based nature and environment protection clubs in its efforts, including organizing an annual meeting to discuss key environmental issues. He stressed the need for collective efforts to ensure a safe and sustainable environment, which in turn would bolster tourism and positively impact the environmental landscape, furthering the Society’s mission and objectives.
Rabia Momani, the school principal, praised the Ministry of Education's support in facilitating activities and programs that raise awareness of environmental issues among students and teachers. She pointed out that the school, in partnership with the Jordanian Environment Society, regularly conducts specialized training courses and workshops focused on environment and development.
Trainer and project manager Maan Nasayra provided an in-depth overview of the course content, covering topics such as effective communication and interaction, the methodology of training trainers, the course plan and its components, sustainable development, behavior change factors, environmental management, and climate change.
