AMMAN — Senators Mufleh Rhimi and Alia
Buran on Wednesday met a Hungarian parliamentary delegation headed by Deputy
Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly Istvan Jakab.

The Senators said Jordan is looking forward to
strengthening friendship and cooperation relations with
Hungary in various
fields under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah and guided by his
endeavor to establish peace, security, and stability in the region.
Rhimi and Buran stressed the importance of fostering
cooperation between the two countries’ legislative authorities to maintain
coordination and consultation on various issues of mutual concern, in a way
that contributes to serving common interests.
Jakab expressed appreciation for Jordan’s reform
achievements made under the King’s leadership and for his role in promoting
peace and security in the region, and dealing with various challenges “wisely”.
He also pointed to the importance of Jordan’s
“pivotal” role in the region, stressing that the Kingdom is a “strategic”
partner of Hungary’s in various fields.
Speaker of the Lower House
Abdul Karim Dughmi also
met the Hungarian delegation on Wednesday, and discussed ways to develop ties
between Jordan and this central European nation.
Dughmi praised the “distinguished relations” with
Hungary, saying they are the result of good relations between the leaders of
the two countries, at a meeting in which Hungarian Ambassador Attila Kali was
present.
He emphasized the value of joint parliamentary work,
describing it as a catalyst for stronger bilateral ties.
Ahmad Safadi, the
first deputy speaker, commended Hungary for its support of Jordan in a number
of matters, particularly its support for the Hashemite custodianship of the
Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem and the refugee issue.
Regarding cooperation in higher education, Safadi
called on the delegation to increase the number of scholarships for Jordanian
students at Hungarian universities.
According to Safadi, achieving food security has
become an urgent global necessity, requiring collaboration with leading
countries such as Hungary, which has been able to make qualitative leaps in the
field.
Jakab praised the role of Jordan, led by His Majesty
King Abdullah, on the regional and international stages.
He stated that Jordanian-Hungarian relations have
resulted in several agreements in the economic, commercial, investment, and
educational sectors.
Jakab said his country is committed to supporting
Jordan on several issues and advancing ties with the Kingdom in various
spheres.
