AMMAN — HRH
Prince El Hassan bin Talal announced the founding
of the Jordan-Japan Friendship Association on Wednesday.

In his speech, he highlighted the importance of the
deep-rooted bilateral ties between the Kingdom and Japan, in bridging
cooperation between East and West Asia.
He discussed the association's role in building and
strengthening relations, noting the role of culture in enabling and
strengthening ties between countries and respect for difference and pluralism,
the Jordan News Agency, Reported.
His speech focused on business, science, and culture in
building partnerships and promoting peace, noting the "need" to
develop a comprehensive cultural commitment based on dialogue and celebrating
diversity.
Meanwhile
Hisako Princess Takamado of Japan delivered on the
relations between Jordan and Japan, adding that HRH His Majesty has made
several visits to Japan, which reflects the "distinguished" relations
between the two countries.
She added that the newly established
Jordan-Japan Friendship Association "is an important step in the history of relations."
The head of the Association, Mazen Darwazah, said the HRH
His Majesty talked during his visit to Japan in April about the
"important" partnership between Jordan and Japan.
For his part, the Japanese Ambassador to Amman, Okuyama
Jiro, focused on Japan's support for development in Jordan through JICA,
lauding the "historical" ties between the two countries.
The ceremony was attended by
HRH Princess Tharwat Al Hassan,
HRH Princess Sumaya bint Al Hassan, HRH Princess Wijdan al-Hashemi and Japan's
Hisako Princess Takamado and her daughters Tsuguko, including the president of
the association Mikio Sasaki.
Also in attendance were ministers, representatives of the
Jordanian-Japanese Friendship Committee in the senate, officials, academics,
and businesspersons.
