In an interview
with the Jordan News Agency, Petra, on Tuesday on the occasion of Kuwait
National Day, he added that these relations have “a long history of
understanding, consultation and coordination,” and consequently the Joint
Higher Committee held four meetings, while the two countries held technical
sessions to achieve integration and follow-up on various cooperation aspects.
In addition, the
diplomat stressed that Jordan and
Kuwait share “identical” positions, thanks to
the two countries’ leaders’ directives, which are based on firm principles towards
all regional and international issues that put the Palestinian issue as a
priority and a focus of attention to support
Palestinian rights and their
struggle, which seek to achieve pan-Arab solidarity and unity.
In regard to
Kuwait’s investments in Jordan, he said their volume reached $18 billion to
cover various energy, real estate projects and infrastructure sectors, pointing
out that there is a “clear” activity of
Jordan Investment Commission, due to
the Kingdom’s attractive investment climate, in addition to the Kuwaiti private
sector’s role.
Jordan and Kuwait
have signed 73 economic agreements, the ambassador said.
Some 62,000
Jordanians work in Kuwait, who offer their expertise in all fields, he said,
adding that Jordanian expats in Kuwait formed a volunteer team during the
COVID-19 pandemic to help Kuwaiti people in humanitarian work.
The Palestinian
cause was and still is Kuwait’s first issue, he noted, adding that Kuwait’s
stances are “firm and supportive” of the just Palestinian cause, which is considered
to have a central place in the Arab and Islamic world.
This situation
calls on Arab countries to support Palestinian issue in regional and
international forums to emphasize the need to stand by the brotherly
Palestinian people, in an effort to achieve their aspirations to establish an
independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with
international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative, according
to the envoy.
