In a press interview on the occasion of Malaysia's National Day, the envoy said Malaysia's total trade with Jordan reached $441.5 million since the beginning of this year until July.
Malaysia, he noted, provides a "favorable" commercial and economic environment with "attractive" incentives for trade and investment for foreign companies to transfer investments to Malaysia, or start new businesses.
The diplomat added that the Malaysian Embassy is working "closely" with the Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) to push for joint potential cooperation in enhancing trade and investment in both countries.
He said: "In this regard, we encourage Jordanian companies to explore Malaysia and consider Malaysian companies as their trading partners."
Regarding tourism cooperation, the ambassador said Malaysia received and hosted a large number of Jordanian tourists in 2023.
The envoy noted his country aims to attract 27.3 million tourists, with revenues reaching 102.7 billion Malaysian ringgit (equivalent to $23.65 billion) in 2024.
The diplomat stated that the embassy is currently working with the ACC to explore opportunities for cooperation with Jordan to enhance the two countries' tourism sector.
He said there are currently 1,800 Malaysian students enrolled in Jordan's different universities in various academic programs, including Arabic language, Islamic affairs and banking.
Meanwhile, he announced a total of 1,600 Jordanian students are now pursuing their postgraduate studies in Malaysia, expressing his pride in excellence of Malaysia's alumni.
In a related context, he pointed out that Sultan Zainal Abidin University (UniSZA) signed last May memoranda of understanding with 4 Jordanian universities of Mu'tah, Al al-Bayt, Applied Sciences, and Jadara, aimed to enhance cooperation in the higher education field, including the exchange of knowledge, expertise and resources in the domains of joint research and publications in areas of common interest.
Additionally, he referred to the cooperation with Jordan within the framework of the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP), which provides a capacity building program for about 144 countries globally, including Jordan.
The program, he noted, has graduated 487 employees and officials from Jordan since its establishment in 1980, adding that it offers training courses in broad development fields, primarily technical and vocational training, maritime management, public administration, cyber security, urban development, aviation management, oil technology, and Islamic banking.
