AMMAN – On Tuesday, Sami Dawud, chairman of the
Jordan Post,
stated that over 50 percent of
e-commerce transactions are routed through the
postal system in Jordan. He highlighted the ongoing efforts to enhance local
postal services, ensuring alignment with global developments.

He revealed that the
postal debt stood at approximately JD26
million, with a reduction of nearly JD1 million last year during a meeting with
the
Parliamentary Finance Committee, reported Al-Mamlaka TV.
The accumulation of debt, he explained, was a consequence of
the government’s suspension of universal postal services in 2006.
According to a survey conducted in 2022 on communication and
information technology usage in homes, Jordanians tend to favor private postal
services over the Jordan Post.
