AMMAN — In a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ayman Safadi, and Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar,
Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, both countries celebrated the substantial growth in
economic cooperation. Trade volume between Jordan and
Qatar surged from JD163 million in 2021 to JD211 million in 2022, showcasing a growth rate of nearly 29 percent. Notably, the first quarter of the current year saw trade volume reaching a substantial JD 58 million, further solidifying the strengthening partnership between the two nations.

A value of two billion dollarsDuring the talks, both leaders emphasized the expansion of cooperation in economic and
investment sectors, alongside efforts to boost trade exchange between the two nations. They also underscored the importance of the Joint Investment Fund, established in 2009, which currently holds a value of two billion dollars, Khaberni reported.
The talks concluded with an agreement to convene the Joint Higher Committee before the year's end, with the intention of signing multiple agreements that will further enhance the legislative framework and promote investment in crucial sectors.
Qatar’s support for the Jordanian communityMeanwhile, Qatar’s support for the Jordanian community residing in the country, which now exceeds 70,000 individuals, was highly appreciated by
Minister Al-Safadi. He commended Sheikh Tamim's initiative, which facilitated approximately 15,000 Jordanian citizens in securing employment opportunities in Qatar back in 2018.
Furthermore, the number of Qatari tourists visiting Jordan saw a substantial increase, rising from 8,907 tourists in 2021 to 14,241 tourists in 2022.
