According to a ministry statement, Saud said the MoU outlines steps to finalize project discussions, establish a clear timeline for implementation, and ensure the delivery of water as scheduled without binding legal commitments at this stage. This strategic approach aims to safeguard the final agreement, set to be signed soon, to move the project forward.

He added that the National Water Carrier Project, one of the world’s largest seawater desalination initiatives, will desalinate Red Sea water and transport it from Aqaba to Amman. Utilizing state-of-the-art environmental practices and renewable energy, the project will provide 300 million cubic meters of drinking water annually across Jordan.

Spanning approximately 400 km, the project represents a cornerstone of Jordan’s National Water Strategy (2023–2040) and is being developed under a public-private partnership using the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model, noted the minister.
