Amman – Minister of Social Development Wafa Bani Mustafa met with United Nations Resident Coordinator Sheri Ritsema-Anderson and representatives of UN agencies in Amman on Monday to discuss areas of collaboration.

The meeting was attended by ministry stakeholders, focusing on enhancing social programs and services.
Bani Mustafa highlighted the ongoing partnership between the Ministry and UN agencies, emphasizing their significant contributions to various projects. She praised the collaboration's role in advancing initiatives like the National Social Protection Strategy (2026-2033), underscoring the need to sustain efforts to implement all its components effectively.
She also discussed the professionalization of social work through a new system aimed at improving service quality. This includes creating a registry for certified social workers who will undergo specialized training.
Additionally, she stressed the importance of fostering partnerships with associations, forming coalitions, and launching sustainable, productive projects.
The minister acknowledged the positive impact of key programs, such as the UN Women Oasis Program, which empowers women and girls socially and economically through diverse training opportunities, and the Makani project, which equips children and youth with education and entrepreneurial skills to engage in community life.
Future plans were reviewed, focusing on enhancing support for people with disabilities, orphans, and those without family support. Discussions also included improving services under the National Aid Fund and advancing the women’s empowerment strategy within the framework of the economic modernization vision.
UN agency representatives expressed their readiness to continue supporting the Ministry’s efforts and future plans, commending its dedication to improving social services and empowering women.
