AMMAN — Ayman Safadi, the foreign minister, has met with US top officials in Amman to discuss Jordan-US ties and partnership, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

US Special Assistant to the President and National Security Council Senior Director for Middle East and North African Affairs Barbara Leaf, Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Yael Lempert and Safadi discussed the memorandum of understanding on the two countries’ partnership, which will replace the previous one that ends at the end of September.
Safadi, who is also the deputy prime minister, praised the US for its support for Jordan, highlighting its importance for the Kingdom’s development efforts, as well as its efforts in grappling with the challenges of hosting refugees.
The US delegation reiterated the two countries’ "strategic relations" and Washington’s keenness to continue supporting the Kingdom.
They lauded Jordan for its contribution to upholding regional security and stability.
