AMMAN —
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and USAID in Jordan on Saturday
launched a project in support of Jordan’s energy sector, according to
Al-Mamlaka TV.

The USAID funded
$40 million project aims to sustainably develop the Kingdoms electricity sector
by strengthening regulatory frameworks and improve oil and gas market services.
Minister of
Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Al-Kharabsheh highlighted the importance of
the project in supporting the energy sector and enhancing the sector’s
efficiency.
Kharabsheh
presented the challenges facing the sector alongside the ministry’s plans to
face them, namely increasing energy efficiency, upgrading services to enhance
renewable energy’s share in electricity generation, and boosting financial
sustainability.
For her part, USAID chief
of mission, Sherry Carlin reiterated the agency’s commitment to boosting
Jordan’s energy sector within the framework of the US’ support to Jordan’s
development efforts.
