AMMAN— The Public Works and Housing Minister and
Minister of Transport, Ahmed Maher Abu Al Samen, Thursday held talks with the
World Bank on plans and strategies for developing the road network in Jordan
and implementing partnership projects between the public and private sectors,
according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Abu
Al Samen affirmed the Ministry's readiness to enhance cooperation with the
World Bank to prepare plans and
strategies for developing the transport sector
in Jordan and to implementing projects that would improve quality of public
services and investment in the country.
He
said that the World Bank is a "strategic" partner for Jordan and that
the Ministry would work in cooperation with the World Bank, as it is working on
preparing plans and strategies for developing the transport sector in Jordan.
World
Bank Director in Jordan
Holly Benner confirmed that the Bank is working with
the government to provide support for the establishment of infrastructure
projects.
She
said that the World Bank is working with the Jordanian authorities to prepare
the necessary plans to develop the transport network in Jordan and raise the
efficiency of public transport and roads.
In
turn, Ibrahim Dajani, Director of the Transport Sector at the World Bank for
the
Middle East and North Africa, said the World Bank would work over the
coming years to study and evaluate the transport road network in Jordan to
improve and raise its efficiency.
