The
delegation engaged in discussions with
Mexican Minister of Tourism, Miguel
Torruco Marques. Attended by Jordanian Ambassador Al-Khaldi and Deputy Ambassador
Amjad Mubaydeen, the meeting focused on fostering collaboration to increase the
number of Mexican and Jordanian tourists, facilitating air travel, and
addressing challenges in the tourism sector. Participants highlighted measures
to enhance tourism product development, improve airport infrastructure, and
strategize traveler diversification to boost spending, Al-Ghad reported.
A
key aspect was the emphasis on establishing a bilateral agreement in tourism
and aviation. Ambassador Al-Khaldi stressed the importance of sharing best
practices in tourist services. Discussions included plans for a familiarization
tour for Mexican tour operators and travel agents in Istanbul, Turkey,
showcasing Mexico's diverse tourist offerings. An invitation was extended to
Jordanian authorities and tour organizers to attend the 48th edition of
Tianguis Turístico México 2024 in Acapulco, Guerrero, in April 2024.
During
the visit, the delegation met with officials from the Mexican Ministry of
Tourism, including Ernesto Velasquez Vasquez, International Media Director, and
Yunadab Abigail Zacarias Sanchez, Deputy Ambassador. Turkish Airlines
representatives, Ertan Albay, General Manager in Mexico, and Musa Ozgan, Sales
Director in Mexico, were also present. The visit included tours of three
Mexican cities (Mexico City, Merida, and Cancun) to explore key tourist,
archaeological, and historical sites.
Both
parties agreed on organizing a visit by a
Mexican delegation from the tourism
sector to Jordan. This aims to familiarize them with the Kingdom's tourist
attractions, particularly in the domains of religious, medical, and
entertainment tourism.
