AMMAN — In
2022, 43,000 apartments were sold in Jordan, according to Head of the Jordan
Housing Developers Association Kamal Al-Awamleh, who said sales were “weak” due
to unusually high prices in the sector, Al-Rai reported.

In a press statement,
Awamleh attributed the high prices in the sector to government fees.
Whereas apartment
sales dropped in 2022 compared to 2021, this year’s real estate trading volume rose
compared to figures for the previous year, he said.
In 2023, Awamleh
predicted, the sector will continue to grow. However, he called on the
government to reconsider sales fees — reducing them to 4 percent in Amman and 3
percent in the governorates — to boost development.
