Foreign Ministry expressed strong
condemnation on Thursday regarding the Israeli government's role in allowing
extremists, including a member of the Knesset, to storm the
Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif.

These actions, it said, were deemed highly provocative and
unacceptable, particularly as the extremists were accompanied by Israeli police
officers who provided protection, Ad-Dustour daily reported.
Exacerbating the situation
In a statement, the ministry cautioned that such actions
further exacerbate the already tense situation, especially considering the
forthcoming provocative and escalatory march scheduled to take place in
occupied Jerusalem Thursday afternoon.
The ministry firmly asserted that Israel has no sovereignty
over Jerusalem and its holy sites, emphasizing that
East Jerusalem is
recognized as occupied Palestinian territory.
Violation of international law
Foreign Ministry spokesman, Ambassador Sinan Majali,
confirmed reports of the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by a member of the Israeli
government, Knesset members, and extremist individuals, who were consistently
supported and shielded by Israeli police.
These actions were denounced as flagrant violations of both
historical and legal realities, as well as international law.
Majali emphasized the sanctity of the blessed Al-Aqsa
Mosque/Al-Quds Al-Sharif, stating that the entire 144-dunum area is a sacred
place of worship for Muslims. He further clarified that the Jordanian
Department of the Jerusalem Endowments and the Affairs of the Blessed Al-Aqsa
Mosque holds exclusive jurisdiction to manage the affairs of the Holy Mosque
and regulate entry to it.
In light of these developments, Majali called upon Israel, as
the occupying power, to cease all practices and violations against the Al-Aqsa
Mosque, urging respect for its sanctity.
He underscored the imperative to halt any measures aimed at
altering the historical and legal status quo, and to acknowledge the authority
of the Jerusalem Endowment Administration over the Mosque.
