AMMAN — Jordan's deputy prime minister and
minister of foreign affairs and expatriates,
Ayman Safadi, underscored the ongoing illegal
Israeli actions, which perpetuate the
occupation and undermine the prospects
for a just and comprehensive peace,

Safadi made these remarks during the "
Peace Day Efforts" initiative, a collaborative effort between the Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia, the European Union, the Arab League, and supported by Jordan and Egypt.
He said during the meeting, "The central message of
this meeting is that
peace is essential for regional stability and prosperity.
However, it will not be realized without an end to the occupation and the
fulfillment of the Palestinian people's right to freedom and statehood on their
national soil, in accordance with the two-state solution, international law,
and the Arab Peace Initiative."

He added that the Palestinian people have historical, legal,
and
humanitarian rights to their freedom and statehood, and the region and its
peoples have the right to live in peace and hope. It is our collective
responsibility to align our efforts with international law, the foundation upon
which the UN, where we are convening today, is built.
The meeting, held on the sidelines of the seventy-eighth
session of the
UN General Assembly in New York, drew participation from foreign
ministers and representatives from nearly fifty countries, along with
representatives of international organizations such as the Organization of
Islamic Cooperation, the Gulf Cooperation Council, the Islamic Development
Bank, and the
UNRWA for Palestine Refugees, among others.
