Jordan has clearly
deteriorated, ranking 49 globally in health impacts and vulnerability to
environmental hazards, and ranked 46 in air quality, 62 in sewage water
treatment, 76 in climate change, and 155 in biodiversity.
Unfortunately,
Jordan maintained the low ranking of the agriculture index, where it was ranked
139 and heavy metal lead contaminants 95 and ranked 47 globally in drinking
water and sanitation. However, Jordan did make progress in waste management
where it ranked 72.
This year’s report
is characterized by new measures that have an impact on how states cope with
climate change as well as the addition of recycling and plastic pollution of
the oceans under the waste management umbrella, indicators of polluting gas
emissions (nitrogen oxides and sulfur dioxide), and organic gas emissions.
