In response to inquiries from Al-Mamlaka TV,
Aloush stated that the first quarter of the year witnessed the import of
410,000 devices valued at JD43 million. The numbers in the second quarter
reached 342,000 units valued at JD32 million, and the third quarter concluded
with
imports of 524,000 units worth JD36.6 million.
Aloush added that the market is experiencing a
tangible decline in import operations compared to previous years, as the total
import for 2022 amounted to JD174 million, marking a 16 percent decrease
compared to 2021.
Aloush attributed this decline to the
tax imposed on mobile devices, emphasizing that this tax increase had a direct
impact on the import volume and, consequently, on device prices for the end
consumer.
He called on the government to take clear
measures to support the sector's growth, emphasizing that the sector is
witnessing a clear decline from year to year.
