Jordanian air defences engaged 20 ballistic missiles fired from Iranian territory and destroyed 18 of them, the Jordanian Armed Forces said early Wednesday. Two came down in unpopulated areas.

Field assessments recorded no casualties, according to the military statement carried by the Jordan News Agency. Air defence units acted under established operational procedures, and monitoring, tracking and assessment continue.
Specialist teams have secured the sites where debris and fragments landed. The armed forces urged the public not to approach, touch or move unidentified objects or wreckage, and to report any finds to the authorities. They also called on citizens to rely on official statements rather than circulating unverified accounts.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed responsibility, saying it had struck the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base near Azraq, which hosts US forces, and describing the operation as retaliation for American strikes.
The barrage is the largest directed at Jordan since the current round of escalation began. On September 2, the military reported engaging 13 missiles fired from Iran and destroying 10, with three falling in remote areas. On July 9, it intercepted eight of ten missiles aimed at the same base near Azraq. In May, the army put the total number of missiles and drones fired at the Kingdom since the war began in late February.
