These remarks were made during his meeting with
representatives of civil society institutions, organized by the
"Rasid" Center in collaboration with the
Chechen Charitable Association, on Thursday. The primary objective of this gathering was to
strengthen the role of civil society organizations and contribute to the
development of the human rights system at local, national, regional, and
international levels, the Jordan News Agency, Petra reported.
He also pointed out that Royal Directives have led to the
approval of comprehensive political and economic reform, administrative
modernization, and public sector renewal. This includes the National Center for
Human Rights conducting an assessment of the legislative impact of the
Cybercrime Law and amending the
Right to Access Information Law to further
enhance the human rights framework within the Kingdom.
Jordan’s commitment to international human rights mechanisms
Furthermore, he explained that the government has enacted a
series of legislative measures, policies, and practices aimed directly at
fulfilling Jordan's commitments and obligations to international human rights
mechanisms. This includes amendments to the
Jordanian Constitution, Party Law,
Election Law, and the Child Law.
Revised the Human Trafficking Law
The government has also revised the
Human Trafficking Law,
introduced the Administrative Regulation System for Government Communication,
and enacted other legislation and national strategies. Additionally, measures
have been taken to enhance practices, such as the establishment of an
electronic platform dedicated to monitoring human rights complaints.
He emphasized that through this meeting, their objective is
to bolster national consultation among all relevant stakeholders involved in
the Universal Periodic Review of Human Rights mechanism. He highlighted that
civil society institutions are pivotal partners and a valuable source of
expertise in advancing the human rights reform system, promoting democracy, and
upholding the rule of law.
He underscored the crucial role of civil society
institutions in engaging with the preparation of the Comprehensive National
Human Rights Plan for 2016-2025, a foundational strategic document aimed at
improving the human rights situation in Jordan. Additionally, he mentioned that
civil society institutions have twice assessed the Comprehensive National Plan.
The "Rasid" Center, in turn, expressed its
appreciation for the government's and the Human Rights Unit's efforts in
facilitating cooperation between civil society institutions and national bodies
