Safadi was speaking during discussions by the Lower House Finance Committee of the budget of his ministry. He said that the ministry includes 59 embassies and consulates with a budget of JD52 million. “Our policy is aimed at serving our national interests,” he added.

He said that Jordanian embassies abroad seek to attract investments and have an important role in opening foreign markets to Jordanian exports.

Jordan continues its efforts to support the Palestinian issue, which is the central issue, with emphasis on the two-state solution, he said.

The Foreign Minister pointed that Jordan’s position on the Syrian crisis was clear from the beginning by pursuing a political solution, pointing that the Kingdom has felt the consequences as a result of hosting Syrian refugees.

On Jordanian-Iraqi relations, Safadi said that they are special relations, and Jordan supports the security and stability of Iraq, adding that “Iraq’s security is our security.”
