AMMAN —
Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Mohammad Khalaileh said on Tuesday that
Jordan has a total of 7,600 mosques — a number that is on the rise, increasing
by 50 to 100 mosques per year.

Friday prayers are held at 4,500 of the Kingdom’s
mosques, he said, adding Jordan has about 2,700 preachers and Imams, a local
media outlet reported.
