Jordanian food firms and manufacturers are taking
part in the in the pavilion, which was organized by the
Jordanian Exporters Association (JEA) and the Ministry of Investment.
A JEA statement on Monday said the Investment
Ministry’s secretary-general, Zaher Al-Qtarneh, who inaugurated the pavilion,
lauded the Jordanian participation in the largest US food show, saying it is an
opportunity for Jordanian enterprises to showcase national products, meet new
trading partners, and access new markets.
He asserted the ministry’s commitment to supporting
Jordanian firms participating in global events, pointing to a free trade
agreement signed with the US, saying Washington is an important commercial
partner of the Kingdom.
JEA chief
Ahmed Al-Khudari said the 16th Jordanian
participation in the event in New York will enable Jordanian enterprises to be
exposed to the latest developments in the industry, exchange expertise, and
make new trade deals.
He said that Jordanian products are of high quality,
and therefore have a great chance to compete in the American market.
The
US-Jordan free trade agreement, signed 22 years
ago, has significantly increased Jordanian exports to “one of the strongest
markets”, he added.
The Jordanian
food industry, he maintained, has notably developed through the years in terms
of quality and competitive prices, thus reaching more than 142 markets
worldwide.
Jordanian exports to the US increased by 30 percent in 2021
to JD1.58 billion, up from JD1.22 billion in 2020.
