the United Nations Human Rights Council to participate in the international

Jordan participated in the third periodic
review in 2018, and 149 recommendations were accepted, which are continually
monitored through the revision of legislations and their alignment with
international obligations in this field, Al Rai reported.
The government is working on implementing the
axes of the comprehensive national human rights plan for the years 2016-2025.
The human rights unit at the Prime Minister's
office held several consultative meetings with various partners in official
institutions and civil society organizations in all provinces of the Kingdom,
with the aim of preparing the national report that was drafted before it was
recently sent to the HRC.
The Universal Periodic Review is a unique
mechanism among the mechanisms of the
Human Rights Council, inviting every UN
member state to have its human rights record reviewed by peers every 4.5 years.
The UPR allows every country the opportunity
to present a report on the actions it has taken to improve the human rights
situation in their countries and overcome challenges hindering the enjoyment of
human rights, and to receive recommendations, based on inputs from multiple
stakeholders and pre-session reports, from UN member states for continuous
improvement.
