Bilbeisi stressed the importance of detecting and
monitoring cases as a preventive measure.
Traditional
cholera test results are issued between 48
and 72 hours, but rapid tests can detect the disease within 10 to 15 minutes,
he said.
Jordan’s last cholera case was recorded in 1981, and
since then, suspected cases are periodically tested for the disease.
Bilbeisi stressed that the number of suspected cases has been very low,
and all suspects have been tested; hundreds of tests are conducted daily
throughout the Kingdom.
