AMMAN — The director of the
Scientific Research Fund of the Ministry of Higher Education, Waseem Halasa, said that Jordan ranked 80 out of
127 countries and 10th in the Arab world in scientific research, Khaberni
reported.

Halasa said that
spending on scientific research amounted to JD263 million, according to a World
Bank study.
He said Jordan came
third in terms of the volume of expenditure on scientific research from the
domestic product of Arab countries, followed by Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
In terms of patents
for Jordan’s non-residents, the Kingdom ranked sixth with 380 inventions, and
Jordan’s residents ranked 10th among other Arab countries.
