AMMAN —
Jordan ranked first regionally in the field of medical tourism, as a result of
exceptional cumulative efforts that began in the 1970s, as well as of the many
features the Kingdom is blessed with, such as mild climate, security and
political stability, and many
healthcare facilities, Hala News quoted
specialists as saying.

To the above should
be added the close cooperation among the various sectors and the successes
achieved in the medical field, which, along with other fields, contributed to
placing Jordan on the medical tourism map as an advanced medical tourism
destination.
President of the
Jordan Hotels Association
Abdel Hakim Al-Hindi said that, according to the
Ministry of Health, by August, some 124,000 patients had received treatment in
the Kingdom.
He added that that
hotels provide accurate details to patients, modern technology and translation
experts in several languages.
President of the
Private Hospital Association and Honorary President of the World Council for
Medical Tourism Dr Fawzi Al-Hammouri said that Jordan still ranks first in
medical tourism in the region, and is among the top 10 countries in the world
in this field.
Director of the
Directorate of Medical Tourism at the Ministry of Health Suleiman Amareen said
that the role of the ministry is to supervise the movement of patients coming
for treatment from the moment they arrive at the airport until they leave the
hospital.
According to him,
the directorate employees conduct continuous supervisory tours to identify and
prioritize patients’ observations, with a view to finding solutions, and
follow-up, and coordinate among hospitals, the Jordan Tourism Board and the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
