AMMAN — Jordan
has welcomed 36
tourist ships that have docked in the port of Aqaba since the beginning
of this year, carrying a total of 43,633 tourists from various nationalities,
in addition to 19,565 crew members, according to Al-Mamlaka TV.

This marks an
increase from last year's numbers, during which 27
tourist ships carrying16,539 tourists and 16,168 crew members docked in Aqaba during the same period,
according to Deputy Chief Commissioner and Commissioner for Economy at the
Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), Hamza Haj Hassan.

confirmed that visitors arriving on tourist ships contribute significantly to
Jordan's economic growth, as they boost the tourism transport sector,
restaurants, tour guides, car rental offices, and hotels.
Aqaba has become one of the most important ports where these tourist ships dock, and has
become a sea bridge for global tourism, said Haj Hassan.

All procedures
are provided to facilitate the entry and exit of ships to and from Jordan, and
to host their passengers, Haj Hassan added.
Tourist
hotspots in Jordan include Aqaba, Petra, and Wadi Rum, as these sites continue
to attract visitors from around the world.
ASEZA notes
that Aqaba represents an ideal model for an active, commercial, and attractive
tourism investment environment.
The latest ship
to dock in Aqaba carried 260 tourists, with most of them hailing from Germany.
Nationalities from Austria, the US, China, and Switzerland were also on board.
