AMMAN — Jordan reported seven deaths and
5,482 infections caused by COVID-19 between July 30 to August 5, the Ministry
of Health announced.
A ministry statement said 27,018 PCR tests were
conducted over the targeted week, compared with 36,256 a week prior, making up
a 25 percent drop, with a 20.3 percent positivity rate.

Currently, there are 4,701 active COVID-19 cases
countrywide, compared with 4,539 recorded a week earlier, noting a 3.6 percent
increase.
The ministry said the number of COVID-19 patients
receiving treatment at hospitals nationwide reached 63, compared with 56 a week
earlier.
On the national vaccination program, the ministry
pointed out that the number of shots administered during the designated week
stood at 2,035 for the first jab, 1,870 for the second, and 1,370 for the
booster dose. That totaled 5,275 shots, compared with 4,811 inoculations a week
earlier, marking a 10 percent increase.
The total number of
first dose recipients stood at 4.8 million, at a 75.2 percent rate for
individuals who are 18 years of age and older,
4.6 million for the second jab, at a 71 percent rate, and 672,914 for
the booster shot.
