In its third cycle, the organization selected 54 villages out of 260 worldwide, adding 20 new villages to its development program. As a result, all 74 villages are now part of the UNWTO’s network of the best tourist villages. This announcement was made during the General Assembly of the organization held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, Al Mamlaka TV reported.

Al-Sila Village, located 16 kilometers south of Tafilah city boasts a historical fortress-built thousands of years ago, showcasing its role in successive human civilizations. The fortress site includes palaces, caves, examples of art, sculpture, architecture, ancient irrigation systems, and archaeological watchtowers.

Hani Al-Omaryin, president of the Al-Sila Tourism Association, previously stated that the Al-Sila region is one of Jordan's most important historical and archaeological sites, with a history dating back to around 800 BC. He emphasized the need to focus on developing the area's facilities, improving services, infrastructure, attracting investments, and promoting tourism projects.
