AMMAN — The
Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities reported that
the number of visits to tourist sites in Jordan during January reached 136,557,
Al-Mamlaka TV reported.

The ministry released data showing that the number of visits
to Petra during January was 26,489, from various nationalities. According to
the ministry, the number of visits indicates repeated visits to
tourist sites by the same international visitors as well as local visitors.
The data also shows that
foreign visitors constituted 70
percent of the total visitors to Petra, with their number reaching 18,594,
while Arab visitors numbered 5,669, and Jordanians 2,226. Additionally, the
number of visitors to the Jordan Museum was 20,182, mostly Jordanians, with the
number of
Jordanian visitors reaching 12,796, foreigners 5,573, and Arabs
1,813.
The remaining visitors are distributed among several tourist
places such as Mount Nebo, Jerash, Wadi Rum, Umm Qais,
Karak Castle, and
others.
