Jordan’s Southern Desert Road project is 44% completed, report says

AMMAN — The first part of the 17km long Southern Desert Road maintenance project, connecting Nejev to Maan, has reached 44 percent completion, according to recent reports. اضافة اعلان

Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh visited the project site in Aqaba on Wednesday to witness the progress of the rehabilitation and improvement efforts, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The project aims to enhance the desert road stretching from the Negev region to the Humayma region in Maan, as well as develop the infrastructure for the Quweira industrial area project in Aqaba.

PM urges speedy progress During his visit, Khasawneh emphasized the importance of completing another 30 percent of the project within the next three months, urging the team to overcome any obstacles that may arise.

He expressed gratitude towards the staff working diligently on the project and encouraged them to continue their efforts to expedite the completion of this significant

Khasawneh received a comprehensive update on the progress of the project from the officials responsible for its implementation. The road rehabilitation and improvement project falls under the jurisdiction of the governorates of Maan and Aqaba, with a budget of JD24 million.

Additionally, Khasawneh inspected the infrastructure works for the Quweira industrial area in Aqaba. Recognizing the project's economic significance, he stressed the need to continue working towards achieving the desired objectives that would benefit the national economy.
