During the 37th session of the
Food and Agriculture Organization’s (FAO) Regional Conference for the Near East, Khasawneh
underscored the significance of airdrops as a burgeoning pressure mechanism on
governments and regimes. He highlighted their role in expanding a culture of
humanitarian aid, prompting countries worldwide to escalate such efforts to
safeguard the people of Gaza from the devastating impacts of hunger and famine.
Khasawneh said, "It is our collective
responsibility in this conference to strengthen this culture as it represents
the protection of noble humanitarian values in aiding the innocent and
afflicted on earth.”
He also emphasized the importance of improved
management of
food loss and waste, noting that this measure would play a
significant role in alleviating hunger among millions of individuals
experiencing food shortages simultaneously.
"We cannot overlook the brutal aggression against
the Palestinian people, especially in the
Gaza Strip," emphasized
Khasawneh. He pointed out that satellite images have revealed widespread
destruction of agricultural land, estimated to be more than 40 percent of
arable land, along with the destruction of 70 percent of the infrastructure in
the sector as a whole.
