AMMAN — Director-General of Jordanian Food and Drug
Administration (JFDA) Nizar Mhaidat said the Kingdom has an adequate and
“stable” stock of drugs that covers the needs of the local market for a minimum
of four and a maximum of six months, depending on the drug types, according to
the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

In a JFDA press statement on Wednesday, Mhaidat said that the administration
periodically follows up on the drug reserve, and that "fast"
precautionary measures are taken to ensure the availability of medicines in the
Jordanian market in case there is drug shortage.
This process also involves coordination with local factories, to motivate
manufacturers to produce drugs that may be in short supply, as well as to
simplify the procedures related to importing drugs, he noted.
JFDA, he said, implements quality procedures to speed up and facilitate the medicines
registration process, and to provide safe and effective treatment alternatives
by giving priority registration to unavailable drugs.
JFDA issued a statement urging citizens and health care providers to send their
observations about drug availability in the local market at the toll-free
complaint line 117114, e-mail
[email protected], and to WhatsApp at 0795632000.
