AMMAN — According
to data collected in early 2023 and posted on DataReportal, an online reference
library, Jordan recorded high rates of digital usage, with millions of people
in the Kingdom regularly accessing the internet and social media.

In January 2023, Jordan had
9.95 million internet users, with an internet penetration rate of 88 percent of
the total population. This figure marks a significant increase of 633,000 (or
6.8 percent) from the previous year.
Despite this growth, 1.36
million people in Jordan still did not use the internet, representing 12.0
percent of the population, according to the report.
Jordan was also home to 6.61
million social media users in January 2023, representing 58.4 percent of the
total population. Figures also showed that 45.4 percent of Jordan's social
media users are female, while 54.6 percent are male.

Facebook: According to Meta's advertising resources, Facebook
had 4.90 million users in Jordan in early 2023, a decrease of 350,000 (-6.7
percent) from the previous year.
YouTube: Updates to Google's advertising resources indicate
that YouTube had 6.61 million users in Jordan in early 2023. Note that these
advertising reach figures do not necessarily represent the same thing as
monthly active user figures. There may be meaningful differences between the
size of YouTube's ad audience and its total active user base.
Instagram: Figures published in Meta's advertising tools
indicate that Instagram had 2.85 million users in Jordan in early 2023,
equivalent to 25.2 percent of the total population then. However, Instagram
restricts the use of its platform to people aged 13 and above.
TikTok: Figures published in ByteDance's advertising
resources indicate that TikTok had 4.43 million users aged 18 and above in
Jordan in early 2023. Note that ByteDance allows marketers to target TikTok ads
to users aged 13 and above via its advertising tools, but these tools only show
audience data for users aged 18 and above.
LinkedIn: Data published in
LinkedIn's advertising resources indicate that LinkedIn had 1.40 million
members in Jordan in early 2023.
Snapchat: Data published in Snap's advertising resources
indicate that Snapchat had 3.25 million users in Jordan in early 2023,
equivalent to 28.7 percent of the total population. However, Snapchat restricts
the use of its platform to people aged 13 and above.
Twitter: Numbers published in Twitter’s advertising
resources indicate that Twitter had around 921,900 users in Jordan in early
2023. However, these advertising reach figures differ from monthly active user
figures. There may be meaningful differences between Twitter’s ad audience size
and its total active user base.
