The
epidemiologist recommended that airport tests be instituted for those arriving
to the Kingdom from China, or that arrivals be tested no more than 48 hours
after entering Jordan.
New COVID
threats, new measures?Meanwhile,
Secretary-general for Primary Health Care and Epidemiology at the Ministry of
Health Raed Al-Shboul said the ministry had met with the Epidemiology Committee
several days ago to discuss imposing new measures on arrivals from China due to
the high number of coronavirus cases recorded in the East Asian country.
While no
new decisions were confirmed during the meeting, the ministry is still studying
taking new measures, he said, noting that the ministry has reviewed a number of
possible scenarios based on information issued by the World Health Organization
regarding COVID cases in China.
The
ministry, Shboul said, is aware of the newest prevalent strain of COVID-19, a
variant of the rapidly spreading Omicron strain, and is “not concerned by it”.
