Mubaidin highlighted that this event, to be held in Amman, underscores Jordan's leadership in media and information literacy within the Arab world. It also reflects the strong partnership between Jordan and UNESCO in executing various programs across different sectors, particularly in media.

"The conference will address the importance of media and information literacy in navigating the rapid changes in information creation and dissemination, contributing to a safer and more inclusive digital future," said Mubaidin in a statement to the Jordan News Agency (Petra) on Wednesday.

The Global Media and Information Literacy Week aims to enhance international, regional, and national policies to confront challenges such as misinformation, hate speech, extremism, and digital privacy violations. It also seeks to generate new insights into the crucial role of media literacy in empowering individuals to navigate the digital world safely and effectively.

Furthermore, the conference aims to raise awareness, showcase innovative initiatives, and present best practices in media and information literacy. It will also foster cooperation and partnerships among various stakeholders dedicated to promoting media and information literacy.

UNESCO organizes the Global Media and Information Literacy Week annually, providing a vital platform for global stakeholders in media and information literacy to exchange experiences, ideas, research, pioneering projects, and new information. The event attracts participation from print, visual, audio, and digital media worldwide.
