Ministry spokesman Sinan Al-Majali said all
Israeli occupation measures that
hamper the right of Christians to freely access the
Church of the Holy Sepulcher on Saturday to practice their religious rites “are
to be rejected and condemned”.
Jerusalem holy sitesHe stressed that the Israeli occupation must respect the
historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem and its holy sites, end all
restrictive measures against the
Christians of occupied Jerusalem, and refrain
from any actions that would infringe upon the freedom to worship in the city.
Given the Hashemite custodianship over
Islamic and Christian holy places in Jerusalem, Jordan will continue to take all possible steps to
protect these sites and preserve the historical and legal status quo of the
city, Majali said.
