Jordan warns of increasing regional turmoil; continues to protect its borders-Momani

In a statement Saturday, he pointed out that two incidents of this type occurred in the past few days in the northern governorates of Irbid and Jerash, describing these breaches as a threat, which Jordan tackles within the military rules of engagement, adding that the Kingdom is taking all "necessary" measures to confront these violations.

Momani stressed that the Jordanian Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) is performing its "sacred" duty in protecting the Kingdom's borders by land, sea and air, indicating that the army is employing all its capabilities to ensure the country's security and safety and protect its citizens.

"The army will not hesitate to apply the rules of engagement against anyone who tries to harm Jordan's security, " he pointed out.

The minister warned of increasing regional unrest, reiterating "Jordan will not be an arena of conflict for any party, and will not allow warplanes, missiles or drones to pass through its airspace."

Momani renewed the call to the warring powers in the region to avoid undermining the sovereignty of states, dodge harming the region's peoples and stop escalation that seeks to prevail with agendas that do not serve the people's interests, disrupt their energies, and deprive them of opportunities to live in peace, dignity, and justice.

Concluding his remarks, he called on citizens to exercise caution in dealing with the repercussions of the ongoing regional events, avoid circulating rumors or publishing unconfirmed photos and clips, and adhere to the instructions issued by the competent military, security, and civilian authorities on dealing with objects that may fall to the ground.

Momani also urged citizens to be careful and stay away from falling objects and the surrounding areas, which may possibly contain hazardous materials, and to quickly inform the official authorities of the place of their fall to deal with them, in accordance with the necessary security and preventive measures to ensure public safety.
