His appointment to
the position came as part of the 14th ICCM conference held in Plovdiv,
Bulgaria.
In a press
statement on Sunday, Amayreh said this achievement will support Jordanian and
Arab tourism globally, as Jordan is one of the countries entrusted with
preserving the world’s mosaics.
MIMAR, with the
support of ICCM projects, will restore and maintain Jordan’s mosaic sites,
especially in Madaba, the Kingdom’s city of mosaics.
The Jordanian
delegation participating in the conference presented working papers on efforts
to restore a mosaic panel at the Baptism Site, while the other paper focused on
restoring a mosaic panel in the Khattabiya area in Madaba, and the third
tackled mosaic floors in Jordan’s historical sites and efforts to preserve and
restore them, he noted.
Established in 1977, the
Rome-based ICCM holds its conference every three years in a member state.
